8,007 Square Feet

The New Air Tanker Base building is located at 2774 Landing View Lane western end of Grand Junction Reginal Airport. It has a total footprint of approximately 8,007 square feet.

The project involves the complete demolition of the existing air tanker base, clearing the way for new construction. This includes upgrading all site work and utilities to ensure the new facilities have a reliable and efficient infrastructure. The construction of a new tank farm will be undertaken to store the necessary fuel and chemicals safely. The project also includes building a new carport designed to house and protect fire engines. Two RV pads will be installed to accommodate recreational vehicles.

The primary framework of the building consists of steel columns and steel beams, and Concrete Masonry Unit (CMU) blocks. The exterior walls feature storefront windows, which allow an abundance of natural daylight to flood into the interior. This influx of daylight creates a healthy and functional workspace, promoting both physical well-being and productivity.

The program aims to address and eliminate safety hazards that do not conform to current standards by replacing non-conformance structures with more robust and resilient buildings. This new structure is designed to be stronger and safer, thereby enhancing efficiency and significantly reducing operational costs over the long term.
